Except for covers and when she's featured in songs Katy Perry at least co-writes everything she sings and does write alot of the time music and lyrics for her songs. On the One of the Boys album she wrote music and lyrics for 3 songs (thinking of you, mannequin and one of the Boys) and cowrote the other 9.

She writes some lyrics, but she doesnt do her "instrumentals", ya know, the actual music, not just singing.

YES she does, but its hardly Adele or John Lennon. These are a couple of her great poetic lines:

Yes Lady Gaga writes her songs, and she has great lyrics too, okay? Like:

And also her songs have meaning to them, unlike many songs today.

I mean, what is:

Although Lourde plays a primary role in her music writing, to say that all her songs are "written" by her is a little misleading. The overall direction is all hers but the composition, engineering, instrumentation, mixing, and producing was mostly done by Joel Little. This is not to say that she isn't talented, but she has had a ton of help.
