'SOS' is the Morse Code international distress signal. It doesn't actually mean anything but is simply a combination of two easily-distinguishable letters: 'S' (...) and 'O' (---).

People have expressed the opinion that it stands for 'Save Our Souls', but this is myth. SOS has no meaning, it was just easy to recognise in Morse code. The term SOS means HELP!
