Generally you have one policy that covers all vehicles in your household. Even if the company issues separate policies for each vehicle they still rate it on a household basis. All drivers and household residents are required to be reported to your insurance company. You also need to advise them as to who drives which vehicle most. Each vehicle will be rated based on the driver and use that relates to that vehicles. For this reason your childs rates will only effect one vehicle but they are covered to drive all vehicles in the household. Be truthful about the drivers and use because if you lie to them in order to get better rates and the company finds out it can be considered material misrepresentation and any claims can be denied.

Vehicle legally have to be insured while off the road?

In this state you can have 100 vehicles in your barn and none of them need to be insured. You do not need to have a license tag on any of them. You can drive them around your farm all day long and not have any problems. You can even drive your tractor across the road from your corn field to your pasture and it does not need to be insured.

Whose medical insurance covers your child if both parents are insured?

In order for your child to have insurance coverage, your child would need to be listed as a covered person on the policy, and a premium would need to have been collected for the child. Even if both parents are insured, if your child isn't on the policy and has not been considered as a portion of the premium, then there is no coverage.

How are commercial vehicles distinguished from private ones in US law?

Commercial vehicles are defined as vehicles that are owned or registered to a company, instead of an individual. Additionally, heavy vehicles, vehicles used to carry hazardous substances, or vehicles able to carry more than 15 persons are also classified as 'commercial' even if privately owned. In order to drive a commercial vehicle, you need a commercial vehicle driver's licence. This imposes some extra responsibilities, such as informing your employer of certain convictions.
