It's a "lawsuit era" guitar that was a very inexpensive clone of a Martin (D-18). The Japanese companies grabbed a tiger by the tail when they cloned these top brands and sold them so cheaply. The Takamine F-340 of the same era is a very close match. My wife got hers in '83. It has a sweet full sound and she loves how easy it is to play. Imagine all the first time Guitarists who got one of these for Christmas. Most were probably mistreated and pitched with no idea what they had. Ha!
