Does lexan yellow with age?

Lexan is a name brand of polycarbonate plastic. Sort of like Xerox has come to mean making a copy on a photocopier. Polycarbonate will lose many beneficial characteristics if left in sunlight extensively. It has a blue tint that would tend to cancel some yellowing effects of sunlight but will turn yellow if left in sunlight over a long period of time. Other types of plastics turn yellow in sunlight as well. No sunlight, no yellow. It also becomes brittle and generally weaker over time when exposed to sunlight. This type of plastic has been used in bullet proofing cars. However, over a period of time in sunlight, the plastic must be replaced if it is to continue stopping bullets. I saw a .44 magnum cal. bullet imbedded in a 1 inch thick piece of poly-carbonate years ago. The inside surface had a slight dimple. Polycarbonate does not fracture or crack if in good condition (no sunlight).

Why do eyes yellow with age?

As people age, the lens inside the eye may become slightly yellowed or discolored due to the accumulation of waste products called lipofuscin. This gradual yellowing can lead to a decrease in the transmission of blue light, resulting in colors appearing more yellowish, known as age-related chromatic sensitivity decline. It is a natural part of the aging process and does not usually affect vision significantly.

Does age affect exposure to chemicals?

Age does affect the exposure to chemicals. Babies and children generally have a higher risk of negative effects due to the exposure of harmful chemicals. An unborn fetus is the most susceptible. This is due to the fact that their organs are not fully developed.

No US $2 bills were printed with yellow seals. However, up till 1963 most were issued as US Notes with red seals and in the 19th century some $2 bills had brown seals. Either of these could have changed color due to age or exposure to chemicals.
