When my jeep cherokee alternator went bad, the check engine light came on and I didnt have a clue what was going on until my volt guage was reading in the red zone. When I replaced my alternator, the light went off. So in my opinion i wouldnt consider the check engine light as a alternator light.
The 04 is common for this if you are referring to the door panel. The wires rub the inside of the opening where it runs out of the door into the hinge area...causing it to break. If you pull the panel and inspect each wire, you will probably find one broken or shorting out against metal....so all you have to do is splice it.
The fuse block in in the engine compartment under a cover, the fuse panel is located in a panel you access when you open the passenger side door.
It depends, some are in the door, some are in a fuse box.
That is a good answer. I would add a cautionery note that the snaps are flimsy and break easily. It it is the same as my 2001 Grand Cherokee there are plastic snaps along the perimeter of the door trim. You will neet to us a putty knife to start prying it away to snap the trim off. The best place to start is the bottom left corner and work your way around. Answer Go to this site for a detailed answer: http://www.wjjeeps.com/doors/doorpanel.htm
There are at least eight screws that have to be removed including the two covering the brake light on top. In the bottom corners of the carpeted part of the panel are two screws that are almost unnoticeable and if you don't get them the panel will break. After making sure all the screws are out, there are posts that hold it into place. You have to basically go around the bottom of the panel and reach behind it to get these posts to pop out. It is not easy to get these out, especially if the grand Cherokee is older. Once all the screws and posts are out, it should simply fall right off.
The alternator light circuit is different from the charging part. The charging part goes to the battery, while the light part goes to the instrument panel. There seems to be a grounded wire in the light circuit.
its a "wait to start" icon usaly used in deisels
Not all the time. The alternator warning circuit wiring to the instrument panel could be grounded
Open the passenger door. It is inside the panel you see at the end of the dashboard.
