It has some benefit to the musician, like easy access for listeners to hear their music and spread the word and such, but most musicians that aren't making money any other way but through sales of their music rely on people buying their music, wether it be on iTunes on a physical copy.
Most musicians just shrug it off and appreciate the fact that people are listening to their music.
