How did Alfred Wegener become famous?

He saw that south America fitted exactly beside Africa. he came up with the idea that there was once a super continent which he named Pangaea. people thought that this was impossible but after his death they realised that he was right.

He became famous by making the theory of Pangea. It was a theory of how all the continets were all once connected. He found that their were fossils that were on South America and the same fossil were also foun on west Africa. He took the continets and put them together like a jigsaw puzzle and that how he made the theory. To this day scientist believe that it is true. That is how he became famous.
