Neil's fame began when he was in the band Buffalo Springfield along with Stephen Stills. They began their career playing clubs on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles in 1966. Neil left the band to start his solo career in 1968.
Previous to this he was briefly in a band called the Mynah Birds in Toronto with Rick James. Neil Young and Stephen Stills had previously met in Canada when Stephen Still was touring with the Au Go-Go Singers and Neil Young was touring with his band The Squires.
