The frontman is not good for metal but is great for jazz, blues and classic rock. If you want screaming metal or heavey grunge sounds get a Marshall or peavey. Personally, I prefer tube amps. I play indie Blues (pack AD. White stripes, black keys) and needed a cheap amp LOUD. The frontman at $150 used for 100 watts is the cheapest "Fender" sound around. Sure I could bring my 68 Twin Reverb on gigs... But if someone spills beer on it I'm out 3 grand. The frontman is a cheap, light (1/4 the weight of a twin) and loud amp for gigging that can be easily upgraded with better speakers to make it sound anyway you want. But if Zak Wyled or Dimebag Darrel are your heroes... You won't want a Fender.

I reckon you should just experiment although try this, Tone - 4, Level - 10 (full), distortion - 10 (full). This will make a good tone for dirty riffs

If you find a heavy gauge string is bending the neck, then you are probably either tightening it too much or the string was not designed for the guitar. It is generally best to buy strings designed for a stratocaster and Fender make strings designed for certain guitars.

A Boss DS 1 Distortion pedal is used in a guitar to produce unique sounds. It is used to change guitar sounds to a make a unique rock and roll distortion.
Do you mean Fender FLARES?

The most famous, meaning classic, brands that make distortion pedals are BOSS, Ibanez, EHX and ProCo. This does not mean that they are the best. There are a bunch of lesser known distortion pedals that are just as good.
It means that if you take earth and make it flat, there are some parts that are not shown or ripped, which makes the people draw a distortion of what it should look like. The north and south pole are the most parts that are ripped, which make most of that part of the map distorted, while the equator has the least distortion.

Distortion.
The fender and door should be properly spaced if the finder is aligned correctly. To make sure look at all the bolt holes for the fender, if it is incorrectly installed the fender will not align perfectly.

EITHER IS GOOD FOR METAL BUT YOU MAY HAVE TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS ON THE FENDER
