The frontman is not good for metal but is great for jazz, blues and classic rock. If you want screaming metal or heavey grunge sounds get a Marshall or peavey. Personally, I prefer tube amps. I play indie Blues (pack AD. White stripes, black keys) and needed a cheap amp LOUD. The frontman at $150 used for 100 watts is the cheapest "Fender" sound around. Sure I could bring my 68 Twin Reverb on gigs... But if someone spills beer on it I'm out 3 grand. The frontman is a cheap, light (1/4 the weight of a twin) and loud amp for gigging that can be easily upgraded with better speakers to make it sound anyway you want. But if Zak Wyled or Dimebag Darrel are your heroes... You won't want a Fender.
Gibson Les Pauls throughout the 60s. Since the 70s to present he's mostly used Fender Stratocasters.
No, he mostly used a Rickenbacker 325 and a Fender Stratocaster (for electric).
Most likely the Strat, considering that you are mostly playing clean. It has a much brighter tone that can help cut through the mix of a band. This is also very dependent on the pickups, however.
Mostly Fender Stratocasters, but he also used others like the Epiphone Wiltshire, Fender Jazzmaster, Fender Duo-Sonic, Gibson Flying V, Washburn Acoustin, Epiphone Acoustic, Gibson Les Paul custom, Gibson ES-335, Epiphone Casino, Fender Mustang, and Gibson Acoustic J-200.
Stratocasters are electric guitars made by Fender. They are mostly used in rock music, but can be used in many other genres. Fenders are not only made by Fender, but also by Squier. Squier is a company by Fender, but they make their products in Mexico, and not in California.
Dick Dale mostly uses Fender Dual Showman Piggyback amps, which he helped Leo Fender develop.
The American ones are generally made in The United States, while Mexican Fender Stratocasters are mostly manufactured in Mexico.

Mostly 70s right handed fender strats. He restrung them upside down. He also had a flying v.
