There's no set way to play hot cross buns. You have to know what key you're playing it in. Some keys, for example, are b flat major or g major. The way you tell what key it's in is what the tonic note is. The tonic note for hot cross buns is the first note. If the first note you play is b flat, the key is b flat major. I have typed the notes below for b flat and f major. B flat is a sharp (#). The sharp is placed before the letter that it's effecting.
