You will need to loosen the bolts holding the alternator in place than once theyre loose, theres a long screw that pushes the alternator keeping it tight- loosen that screw and the belt should start becoming loose. Loosen that screw until you can take the belt off then you should be able to replace with a new one. Hope that helps.
if a serpentine belt is loose, it needs replacing. there is an automatic tension pulley on all serpentine belts. so just buy a new belt and install
There should be a diagram on the underside of the hood.
Possible problem with the alternator. Could be source of the noise if it's bearing is going out.
go to the parts store and ask for a belt for that vehicle
I'm guessing that you mean a Serpentine belt. This is the multi grooved belt that runs the power steering, alternator, waterpump, a/c & other items under the hood. It's called a Serpentine belt because it snakes back & forth around pulleys to run a lot of different items under the hood. It replaced some cars having 2-3 separate belts under the hood.
it's called a serpentine belt.
My 1986 Olds Cutlass Calais doesn't have a serpentine belt. It has a separate alternator belt. How do I change it?
There is only 1 way the serpentine belt will go on, there is no alternate way.
The serpentine belt is broke or loose. Replace the belt
what are the timing belt marks for a 1995 olds cutlass supreme
Begin by loosening the tensioner pulley on your 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Put your serpentine belt around the pulleys. Tighten the serpentine belt with the tensioner pulley.
steering fluid reservoirunder hood, passenger side, above serpentine belt.
You have to unscrew the motor mount srews.
It's on the passenger side at the bottom. Just follow the serpentine belt to the bottom-- if you know what you're looking for you'll see it, but Good Luck replacing it!
There should be a diagram there. If not go to an autoparts store and they can find out for you.
this year of car has no serpentine belt, you should be able to loosen the ac compressor to where it will move to let you remove the belt for this unit after putting new belt on pull back so that you have tension on the belt and have it where you want then re-tighten the bolts you loosened. it should be the same serpentine belt as the alternator. just find the tensioner pulley, take the old belt off and put the new one on.
You don't. It's a serpentine belt.....meaning one belt to run all accessories. There is an idler pulley that takes up slack and keeps the belt tight automatically. These do go bad sometimes. If so, you'll need to remove and replace it.
