Prop the hood of so it cannot fall. Each strut will have four retaining screws. Two screws on each and of the strut. Remove the strut retaining screws. Reverse the process to install the new struts.

At the top and bottom joints there are one of two different clips that hold the strut on to the ball which is bolted to the body.

First is a wide steel clip at the base of the ball section at both ends, force a screwdriver ( flat) under the clip ( there is a small gap there ) and pry it off, then give the strut a quick tug and it will come off.

Second is a small wire clip, right at the ball, find the end of it and pull it off from around the base of the ball and slide it out of the hole.

To reinstall you can leave the new clips in place and just forcible push the ends onto the balls , but there is a risk of damaging the clips doing this, so remove the clips, place the end over the ball and install the wide clip into the slots on either side ( make sure they go in all the way, for the wire, locate the hole in the ball end of the strut and slide the long end into it, then snap the curved end over the end of the ball end of the strut.

Is Jeep Cherokee wired for rear speakers?

If you have a Cherokee from 1984-1996 with speakers that would have gone in the tailgate, then if you take off the interior tailgate panel (be careful not to break any clips!) and the wiring should be behind it. Just install your new speakers and replace the interior tailgate panel. If you have a Cherokee from 1997-2001 with speakers that would have gone in the ceiling, then take down the headliner temporarily and wiring will be in the roof. It's probably easiest to get a soundbar off of eBay or at your local junkyard and install the bracket and soundbar in the factory location, then connect the wires to the speakers in the soundbar. There is always rear speaker wire going from the radio in the front to speakers in the rear.
