First remove the belt. Second loosen the front bolts. Next remove the rear bolt. Remove the front bolt furtherest from the front of the car. Then swing the compressor away from the engine from under the car. This will allow you to disconnect the rear hose connections. Also you need to remove the electrical plug. Then have somone under the car hold up the compressor while you remove the last bolt. I was able to do mine in about 1 hour.
The 1997 Chevy 1500 throttle position sensor is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The throttle position sensor will be in the center of the firewall.
The engine computer is the voltage regulator in a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
In your PCM not the alternator Its built in the alternator be sure that you replace the alt with the same amp. alt it could be a 90 or 124 amp alternator. Replace the belt while you have the alternator off.

You can swap the engine from your 1997 Cavalier 2.2 liter engine to your 2000 Chevy Cavalier. The wiring harness and motor mounts should be in exactly the same.

Well yes and no. Both have a 2.2 four cylinder if I'm not mistaken, but I don't think the earlier Cavalier's have the EcoTec motor. And you should be able to get the engine from the '03 into the '97 with no problem.

The oil filter is located on the passenger side of the engine I got at mine from the top of the car and found it easiest to replace it from there. It is down middle of the engine.
