I think you have to put your transmission on Neutral then shift to 4x4.

1993 jeep grand Cherokee automatic transmission with all wheel drive its in 4x4 position I want known how to shift it into neutral?

All wheels must be off the ground to turn if servicing !

Why does my 1997 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo have the lights on showing up the two front wheels in little car picture thing by the automatic transmission gear shift?

I know in mine which is a 4x4, it means the 4x4 is engaged. The little care picture thing is your vehicle information center. When it is in just 2 wheel drive, only the lights for the rear wheels should be on.

Need to know how to properly engage the four wheel drive on a 1999 jeep Cherokee not grand Cherokee 4L inline 6 thanks?

To engage 4x4 simply move the transfer case position handle from 2-hi to 4-hi and a low speed, or preferrably stopped. If you need 4-lo you must come to a complete stop and place the transmission in neutral. then shift to 4-lo. Reverse this procedure to get out. It is not advisiable to shift into 4wd unless the traction on the wheels may be comprimised. turning the vehicle while in 4wd and on a non forgiving surface may cause excess wear or damage to the 4x4 system.

If on a 1986 Jeep Cherokee 4-dr 4-wheel drive 2.5 liter engine your 4 wheel drive is not working how do you resolve this problem?

Check that the transfer case is engaging to do this jack all four tires up and lock it in 4x4 and look to see if the front is turing. and also make sure that the hubs work I replaced the front driveline shift actuator and while I was under there I made sure the shift sleeve wasnt sticking....really easy $70 part and 30 mins sounds exactly like what I did...good luck the 4x4 system on that jeep uses a vacuum line that engages it, check if the vacuum is plugged in properly or check if there is a vacuum leak some where on the front axle

Where is the shift solenoid on a 99 J Grand Cher Will it keep it from shifting into over drive?

The shift solenoids are on the valve body inside the transmission. They are one of many things that can prevent the shift into overdrive. The shift solenoids are on the valve body inside the transmission. They are one of many things that can prevent the shift into overdrive.
