You could take out the pickups and then have a look at the cavity. You should be able to see the cross section of the guitar top. From the thickness of the top you can tell if its laminated or solid.
The s stand for solid top. so yes it is a solid top.
There is no set answer to this question, as low cost guitars change with time. However, you should investigate the guitar itself to find out what sort of wood it is made from, either laminate or solid wood. (This mostly just applies to the top of the guitar) Laminate is stronger than solid wood, but doesn't resonate as much and produces a poorer sound. Solid wood is weaker but resonates fully, producing a deeper, richer and higher quality sound. If you are a careful person (this doesn't take much in this sense as it is quite hard to step on a guitar) you can do fine with a soild wood guitar, which is essentially a better choice. (A proffessional guitarist would never choose to play a laminate topped guitar) You can get solid wood topped guitars for less than £100 aswell, I once bought one from Argos for about £30, which turned out to be an excellent buy. As for makes of guitar, go for relatively small named companies, such as Hohner or Falcon. Well known guitars such as Fenders or Tanglewoods will be of a low quality at this price, almost certainly with a laminate top. Remember, just because it looks good and shiny, doesn't mean it sounds good.
Blake Shelton plays with a Takamine solid top acoustic.
Everything that i have seen says that it is solid spruce with laminated maple sides.
Ive been doing some research on that...Seems as though most woods (sitka spruce, rosewood etc.) work well, but it needs to say solid wood in the specs especially for the top of the guitar. If its not solid, it will be laminate wood which has glue and deadens the tone. If the back and sides are solid, the guitar will sweeten with age, but that is the main difference. Solid woods. There are many expensive guitars even up to a martin costing 33000 dollars, but mostly the reason for this outrageous price is the random woods used to make it.
I've never been able to figure it out by sound. There is a very easy way though. Follow the grain of the top as it goes into the sound hole. If you can see the on the edge of the sound hole then you have a solid top. If the edge of the hole is kin of dark the you don't If you paid less that$500.00 it is not a solid top. If you need help past this info mssg me @ GregPredmore.

It is for guitar volume and tone, it means that the top is solid and doesn't have any grooves in it.
no, this is a straight up acoustic guitar
Yes, you can.
Wilsonart Laminate tops are a brand of laminate counter-top. They are famous for being one of the best brands of laminate counter-top, along with other laminate counter-tops such as Formica.
Blake Shelton plays with a Takamine solid top acoustic.
On line sources go from $55 to $299 US. Condition is important. Also if the top is laminate or solid.
I have an Abilene AW15E electric/acoustic with a solid matt top and dates to pre August 1997. By 2000 the AW15G gloss top or AW15S satin top.
Laminate flooring can get wet, but only the top. Laminate flooring's sides, open seams, damaged areas, and bottoms can never get wet. If you install the laminate flooring in a full bathroom, you must take extreme precautions given by laminate manufacturers.
Wilsonart is top of my list.
