The Flute originated in the Orient, with instruments such as Chinese wooden flutes, such as the dizi. These were just barrels of wood with 6-8 fingering holes drilled out. Although these flutes were quite similar to the modern Flute, they were in many ways unevolved. One of the major problems with the wood flute was that the notes were not consistently on tune, and there was not a true quarter tone scale. This was notice by William Boehm, a European flautist. He then made it his mission to innovate the instrument that had captivated the hearts of many Europeans, and make the flute worthy of orchestral settings. Through several trials and calculations, Boehm was able to create a metal flute, similar to the flutes being produced today. He used a system of rods connecting the keys and employed keys to close the holes rather than the finger being placed directly onto the hole. Even today, his model is being innovated. Modern inventions such as the gizmo key, the Brogger system, and the Kingma System by Brannen are changing the way we view flutes.
the alto flute
a harmony flute is like a bass flute or an alto flute meanwhile a regular flute is anything other than those types : )
Alto flute has a lower pitch than a normal flute.
Flutes and Piccolos don't use reeds. Also for E.C., an oboe doesn't use a reed either. :)
There are many members of the flute family. Here are three:1. The concert flute-the flute you would normally play on in band, etc2.The piccolo- practicaly a mini flute with some changes.3.The alto flute- a flute that curves at the mouth piece and is tuned a 4th lower than the concert flutePiccolo, flute, alto flute, and bass flute
Holes on the flute are covered and uncovered to change the way air passes through the instrument.
Yes definitely! The flute has modernised since then and there are new mechanisms which are now available which involve NO screws or wires. New metals have been used in creating the flute. And the invention of new flutes also has bought a change to the flute collection. So to answer your question yes.
well to my knowledge the first flute was basically a wooden Stick that had been hollowed out and holes drilled into it at specific points. as you can imagine, they have changed alot since then
It didn't change my life. I changed its life- by playing it like a MADMAN!!!
The melody is Mozart's 3rd Symphony in F minor only it has been changed a bit.
