She is alive and well and eighty two years old...some health issues but generally in good health.

Tidbits: The Barrett Sistersby EJ on Sept. 30, 2009 from Gospelpundit.com.

Growing up in the 1930's, the sisters saw the passing of four of their siblings to tuberculosis, but their lives were spared from the illness.

While in high school, Delois (the eldest sister) began singing with the famed Roberta Martin Singers. She traveled the world with the group for 18 years before returning home to Chicago and linking up with her younger sisters-- Billie and Rodessa-- to sing. They formed The Barrett Sisters in 1962 and recorded their first album a year later for Savoy Records. Today, they are known for their soaring voices and tight harmonies, which have helped to pioneer the sound of female gospel groups.

Though the sisters, now in their late 70s and early 80s, do not perform much anymore, they're still active in their local church bodies. Delois has been in a wheelchair for some time now, battling arthritis and other health issues.

I have followed the Barrett Sisters for more than 20 years. Growing up in Iowa I always felt it was possible to meet the Barrett Sisters and believed one day I would. I fell in love with their style of music and became addicted to their voices because of their tight harmonies, coupled with excellent diction. When they sing you can understand every single word they say and in Gospel Music that is critical.

The Christmas season of 2003 I was given one of the best Christmas presents I will ever receive. I finally met Delois Barrett-Campbell and her sisters! God is good all the time, and all the time God is good! Not only did they take the time to talk with my family and I. They allowed us to ask them questions, they feed us, shared stories about their travels and the people they have met over the years etc. What I thought would be a 10-15 minute "how do you do" and maybe get pictures and Autographs and then leave, has literally turned into a seven year relationship.

I can truly tell you the Barrett Sisters appreciate and love their fan base. They share all the wonderful things people have done, are doing and will do for them at their concerts and anytime they have the opportunity to voice their appreciation. Most recently, a film maker from California completed the filming of an upcoming documentary of the Barrett Sisters. I believe you can Google Barrett sisters and see the trailer.

The Barrett Sisters are wonderful women and most of all Godly women. God has been good to them, because they are good to many.

I visited with Delois Barrett Campbell today. She is bed ridden, suffering with several physical challenges, but is still a blessing to be with. Her family is very supportive and close around her each day. The sisters Rodessa and Billie and doing fine - Billie lives right next door. I had a good visit and prayer with Mrs. Campbell. She has had problems with her vocal chords and is unable to sing. She prays and ask for prayer that she will be able to sing and walk by her birthday celebration the second week in March. These ladies have given so much through their songs; and through their recordings, are still giving. I was blessed to be able to visit with Mrs. Campbell. She told me that I was now a part of the family and invited me back for Thanksgiving dinner. I am going too. These ladies could certainly use all of our prayers and any other support we could offer. I told her about being able to download individual songs at ninety-nine cents each from Amazon MP3 and also being able to order their CD's. She said she was told that their music was not selling. It is a shame that these ladies, now in their late seventies and early eighties are not able to benefit from their music financially while, apparently, someone else is. However, Mrs. Campbell said "I'm not out doors and I'm not hungry." But, as for me, I think they deserve so much moe. We should not allow those who have given so much to us, want or need for anything.
