I own a Wasburn Dime V. I can honestly say that these guitars are not that bad. They have a good build, but the pick-ups tend to burnout quickly. I put EMG's in it and its sounds great. My advice would be to try one out and see how it feels.

anything in the 150-300$ range if you're a beginner , used over new as long as it has all the strings and is in good condition. stay away from Ibanez and any kind of guitars with a whammy bar minus straotcaster type. I've played 50+ guitars extensively and recommend Agile , LTD , BC Rich , Schecter , Jackson you can buy AMAZING guitars used for under 300$. Play all the notes on the guitars neck and make sure that they all work properly , look for anything missing , but besides that good luck.
in canada places like Axe Music , Steves Music (im very sure) , Cosmos or Long and Mcquade in america Guitar center or a lot of online stores as I dont live in america, I personally hate Ibanez guitars but to everyone their own. Just make sure that you dont get a guitar with a 200-1000$ higher price tag than another just because it was made somewhere else in the world out of the same woods and essentially the same pickups. worse case scenario cragislist , ebay or kijiji nothing wrong with used guitars they sound the same in the end and you save some money
