The number of cities without cathedrals can vary significantly depending on the country and its religious architecture. Many smaller towns and cities, especially those in regions where Protestantism is predominant or where there is no established cathedral tradition, may lack cathedrals. Additionally, cities in countries with different religious practices or cultural backgrounds may also not have cathedrals. An exact global count is difficult to determine, but it's clear that many cities exist without this specific type of religious structure.

Don't Be Afraid By The Cathedrals
Guildford does not have official city status, as city status has never been granted by the crown. However, It has generally been mistakenly beleived that since the diocease of Guildford was created and cathedral built, that Guildford has had city status. The Football team Guildford United was renamed Guildford City at this time. The days when Catherdrals automatically madetown into cities are long gone and this tradition was started by Henry VIII, who granted city status to towns with new cathedrals. In recent times especially in the industrial revolution, many towns without cathedrals grew in size i.e. Birmingham, Southampton etc... It was then a choice whether to give these large towns city status, or give city status to smaller towns without catherdrals. This was where the Cathedral city tradition ended. This means that there are now cities without Cathedrals. Guildford was made the official "County Town" of Surrey by order of King Henry III. This title has been held ever since, even whilst Surrey County Hall is in Kingston-Upon-Thames.
This song was written for Glen Payne of the Cathedrals when he passed away.

I am sorry but we can't answer because we don't know the country you ask about. There are many capital cities with cathedrals.
A country is made up of cities and towns. Cities have cathedrals - towns don't.
Most English cities have cathedrals. These include:Birmingham, Blackburn, Bradford, Bristol, Bury St Edmunds, Canterbury, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Chester, Chichester, Coventry, Derby, Durham, Ely, Exeter, Gloucester, Guildford, Hereford, Leicester, Lichfield, Lincoln, Liverpool, London (two Anglican Cathedrals - City of London [St Pauls] and Southwark ), Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Oxford, Peterborough, Portsmouth, Ripon, Rochester, St Albans, Salisbury, Sheffield, Sodor and Man (on the Isle of Man), Southwell, Truro, Wakefield, Wells, Winchester, Worcester and York, all of which have Church of England cathedrals. In addition, there are several dioceses (and hence cities with cathedrals) in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and hence have cities with cathedrals. Also, many cities have Roman Catholic cathedrals too - such as London (Westminster Cathedral), Bristol and Cardiff. Some cities do not have cathedrals: Leeds (which comes under Ripon); and Nottingham (which comes under Southwell), as well as Swansea in Wales. They are cities by royal charter rather than by possessing a cathedral. In addition, some towns have cathedrals - especially in Wales. These include St Asaph and Brecon. Newport in South Wales has had a cathedral since the 1920s but was only granted city status at the milennium of 2000.

Bangor is the only city in North Wales. Theoretically, this is wrong. Places with cathedrals are classed as 'cities', and as St. Asaph has a cathedral, it is a city.

"There are many tourist attractions in Italy. There are cathedrals, Renaissance cities, the Colussium, the Vatican, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pantheon, and Churches are just a few."
A lot of brazilian cities has a cathedral. Cities with a population of 500 thousand inhabitants on average, have their cathedral. São Paulo, Campinas, Sorocaba, Bauru, Santos, São José dos Campos, São Bernardo do Campo, among others cities in the state of São Paulo have a cathedral. Aparecida do Norte, in the state of São Paulo has a special church, larger than a cathedral, which is called Basilica of Nossa Senhora Aparecida, that is the Brazil patroness. All the states' capitals, and all the main cities in every state are proud to have its cathedrals. Cathedrals are large churchs so they are commonly built in big cities. I suppose that there are more than a hundred cathedrals in Brazil.
No, cities can have cathedrals (although not necessarily Catholic) to be cities but other things like good universities (e.g. Cambridge) can also allow a city to be designated as such. Factors like population, area, or if it has a swimming pool have no affect on categorisation of cities. :)
