a lot I've been the only Trumpet for a year i had to learn them and I've been playing for 2 years now
There are a total of 7 different finger combinations on a 3 valve trumpet if you do not count half valving
They are:
OOO
XXX
XOX
OXX
XXO
XOO
OXO
(where O is up and X is depressed) Depending on the range you are playing in, these combination will produce different tones.
Example: OOO could be low C, G middle C, E, high G, etc.
XXO could be low E, A, C# etc
A standard trumpet(not a piccolo)usually has three valves. However, the higher-pitched piccolo trumpet has four.
since there are so many valves, and they are rotory valves, there are actual tubes for each valve, including a valve for the trigger and a valve for no buttons as well. there are not as many valves on the trumpet because they have a different type of valves: the valves of the trumpet work like when you press down the button, the actual valve moves and a hole opens so it shows that the button was pushed down so the pitch comes through. there is only one necessary tube on the trumpet, because the valves are just holes in the tube. this is different on horn, because there are different tubes for each valve. the horn valves are rotors, so when you press down the button, the rotor moves and opens a hole. there is a different rotor for each valve, which means that every valve MUST have its own tube. this is why there are so many tubes on the horn:]
There are several types of trumpet; the most common is a transposing instrument pitched in B♭ with a tubing length of about 148 cm. Earlier trumpets did not have valves, but modern instruments generally have either three piston valves or, more rarely, three rotary valves. Each valve increases the length of tubing when engaged, thereby lowering the pitch. The trumpet is used in many forms of music, including classical music and jazz.
Trumpets date back to 1500 BCE, but trumpets did not have valves until 1793 AD and did not take off until 1818.
You can get many different sounds from a trumpet, from the notes A, Bb, B, C, Db, D, E, Eb, F, Gb, G, and Ab. and each of those notes can be played at different octaves. you can also make a goat/horse sound by half pressing a combination of the valves down. to make these sounds my personal preference is 2nd and 3rd valves and if you try to play lower than the low G# you get into peddeltons, which many peoples say sound like farts.

there are 3 valves, and 4 slides (one for each valve and a tuning slide)
They are not really keys...they are valves. There are three. Cheers :)

On a standard trumpet that is not a piccolo, there are 3. They are simply called the first, second, and third valve.

It depends on you definition of trumpet. The trumpet has come along way and made many changes. The oldest 'trumpet' can be found in Egypt and was part of a tomb. Yet the modern trumpet(with valves) has been constantly changing.

Two make combinations you would take 2x1=2 combinations only
There are Three notes- and are played- Up and down. It is an elementary trumpet exercise. laid to rest! The whole composition only uses three notes- and the standard trumpet has three valves.
