Well... He was in a coma for about 13 months and when he was in the hospital, a hospital band came around. He was fascinated with the drummer and decided to play them. He had appendicitis when he was little (everybody thought it was a stumich ache until it got really bad)

He was very sickly as a child. He had appendicitis, and then developed peritonitis, causing him to stay in the hospital for months. Later, due to the impoverished neighborhood in which he grew up, he contracted tuberculosis, causing him to miss school and be sent to a sanatorium, where he remained for about two years. As an adult, he became an alcoholic (as his father had been), but eventually, he got clean and sober and stopped drinking.
