It all depends. on what model of aircraft you want, whether you want a new or used one, what features you want on it, whether you want everything overhauled fresh (life limited components on airplanes, like the engines and landing gear, must be overhauled on a manufacturer's schedule) or you're willing to do it yourself, whether you can deal with an ugly interior...

You can find used jet airplanes for anywhere from well under a million to well over $5 million.

Also consider that "private jet" means anything you want it to; John Travolta owns a retired Boeing 707 that he purchased from the Australian Qantas Airways.

It also depends on whether you want to rent one, and, if so, how long you need it for, or whether you want to buy one.

Typically the cost varies on several factors including: number of passengers, aircraft size, trip distance, length of stay, and aircraft availability.

Of course, the longer the trip and larger the aircraft will increase the overall cost of charter, as do larger airports and services required for fuel. As Private Jet Advisors, we often try to use an airport nearby to a major airport to help keep the cost down.

Example of Actual Private Jet Charter PricingFlights can be a one-way, round trip, or multi-leg trip.

- For one-way flights, the private jet takes you to your destination and then returns to its home base empty. This serves as an inefficient and expensive way to charter because you are stuck paying for the jet to return empty when you aren't flying on it.

- For round trip flights, you only pay for the jet when it is actually operating. However, there are overnight fees for both the crew and the airplane to sit. These fees are increased for international overnights. Sometimes, if the stay is long enough, FlightOn Jet will use two one way flights to help offset the higher cost of overnight fees.

- For multi-leg trips, the private jet stays with you as long as you need. If there are several day stays at one destination, it is possible to utilize multiple one ways to help with costs.
