i have a record of glenmiller/the unforgettable album whats it worth?
in mint condition probably around $250
About 80 dollars in fair condition.
It would depend upon the condition of the recording for one thing and whether or not there were collectors for whatever music (or speech) is recorded in the grooves. Some rare recordings, say early jazz from the 1920s and 30s, can easily fetch $100 or more. Unfortunately, these early shellac records were played with steel needles which took a heavy toll on them so very few, relatively speaking, have survived in mint condition
Phonographs are evaluated on condition, rarity, and desirability of the design. Re-painting, mis-matched parts, damage, missing pieces, and poor running motors devalue phonographs. Sonoras are in the mid-level of desirable phonograps. Outside horn phonographs are more desirable than "victrolas" (brand name of Victor phonographs that were produced with internal horns) the term that was most often attached to internal (or hidden) horn phonographs. Most victrolas are worth between $100 to $500 dollars in excellent condition and most horn phonographs are worth from $300 to $1,200 dollarsin the American market (I've been collecting them for 12 years and that has been my observation only!). Other variables on value include location and size of the instrument.
Victor records is the name of a record company. victrola records are the type of records played on a victrola machine. Victor Record Company made both Victor Records and Victrola Records. I had many of each.......Cairoconnie1@hotmail.com
Victor records from the early 1900's can be worth up to $1,000.00. This, however, depends on their condition, and if they can still be played on hi-fi systems and record players. To see how much your collection is actually worth, you can speak to a vintage album and record dealer for more information.
RCA Victor recording studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
They say it was a guy named "Victor" ************* No. There are many references to many different people that claim to have been the inventor of recorded sound. Even today we are still finding earlier examples. Most people credit Edison for inventing the phonograph but be only perfected it. "Victrola" was the brand name of the "Victor Talking Machine Company" phonograph. It only referred to Victor machines but they were the best quality and wildly popular so the name "Victrola" became a generic catch phrase for all phonographs.

You have to be more specific about label, catalog number and condition, but I can tell you it's not worth much. Caruso sold a lot of records so most of them are quite common.
