For a beginner you can find violins at 190 S$ in Singapore ; 345 Euros in Germany.

If you are not sure to play the violin or not, you can also hire the instrument. I play the violin myself and I really do recommend this instrument.

The cheapest violins are $100 to $250. But are always poorly constructed and should be avoided. If you want a brand new violin, or a used one, you are going to have to pay some money around the 700 area.
