Contract, traveling or agency nurses can make well over the stated sixty thousand without a lot of hours. A 50 hour week is fairly standard in today's society and nurses can work 4x12 hour days and get nearly that with a steady three day weekend. It is not limited by state as the answer suggests but rather on supply and demand. Highers skills and experience will command a higher salary.
And, as an aside, there are only 50 states.
Answer
Nurses can make as much as Sixty Thousand dollars a year, depending on several factors. If they work in an Emergency ward and work a lot of hours their salaries can be quite high. The same can be said for nurses who work in Trauma hospitals where specialized training is required. However, the United States of America is a large country consisting of 52 states and quite probably each state has a limit on how much money a nurse can make.
Certified Nursing Assistant classes can vary from weeks to a few months depending on the facility providing the program and how good or thorough the program is. Check with your local college or with your state certification board.
