Yes. If they weren't, they wouldn't have spent so much money on a girl that can't even sign. "Friday" was what the music industry calls a vanity project, which means the artist (or, in Black's case, her family) pays the entirety of the production cost. And, though the song is undeniably awful and the music video is embarrassingly bad, it is rather obvious that it's quality (production-wise, that is) is rather high, especially for a teenager who has never released music before. tl;dr: Because Black was (at the time) an unknown, no real record company would pay for a video with a high production cost like "Friday". Therefore, the artist must pay and Black herself has no money, her family must have paid.
Rebecca Black made her own music video to her original song "Friday." The video attracted lots of attention because the few people who viewed it first, hated it so much. This led to more and more viewers, and ultimately to Rebecca's popularity. I don't know about you but majority of the people do not like rebecca blacks song: Friday. I think music is sort of just being made for popularity and money not whether the person is good or bad at singing . All i am trying to get to is I think music singers should have talent .If you dont agree with me that is fine but that is just my opinion.
