It is a very good student horn, I learned how to play on one! The 606MR has a rose brass bell, which means that it has a higher resistance to corrosion. The red brass also gives it a different tonal sound. The 606MR is a beautiful horn that can be used in almost ANY band playing situation. I have been playing for 4 years now with over 25 bands and I would rather play the 606MR than a Bach Strad (A pro level trumpet)
You can probably find a cheap piece of junk trumpet made in china for $1-25. Most beginning to intermediate-professional trumpets are $200-1250. Great professional horns like Schilke's and Bach Stradivarius's are $1500-3000, most in the 2000 range.
