I would say... 12 to 15 years. The small dogs usually live longer.

I'd say up to 15 years.

According to the Second Edition of the Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds, Miniature Pinschers generally live from 12 to 14 years. The lifespan of a dog depends on health and size, meaning that a Miniature Pinscher could live more or less than 12 to 14 years.

The reason why small dogs usually live longer is that they do not put as much strain on their joints as bigger dogs. Bigger dogs usually have joint problems.

Dogs live shorter lives than humans due to their higher metabolism rate. Metabolism is the process of breaking down solids and liquids for energy. The higher the metabolism, the shorter the life. Small dogs have a higher metabolism than big dogs, but they live longer because they are smaller. This means they don't have to pump blood as hard as bigger dogs and their lungs are smaller, so they don't need as much oxygen. Life spans really depend on health and size, though.

I had the pleasure of raising a doberman from the time he was 6 weeks old. He died very unexpectedly just before he turned 8 years old, and I was absolutely devastated. He, like close to 40% of other dobies, died of dilated cardiomyopathy. As far as I know, the average life span of a dobie is 8-10 years, with a few living to be closer to 12. Knowledge of dilated cardiomyopathy is key to preventing it, and therefore key to ensuring a longer and better quality of life. Dilated cardiomyopathy is basically the heart growing to the point that it can no longer pump blood efficiently, thereby affecting the lungs, liver, and other major organs. It is a very serious disease, especially for dobermans. After being diagnosed in a doberman, he or she can be expected to live only a couple of months. I had no knowledge of this affliction, and i believe that if i had, my pup would have lived a longer and healthier life. If you are planning to raise a doberman, you should know they are absolutely wonderful, goofy and loving dogs, and it can be quite a rewarding experience, given their affection and intelligence and their desire to be with their patrons. The completely unexpected death and ignorance of what killed my dog shocked me, so I want others to know what that they and their pups might be in store for a painful and unexpected parting of ways at very close to 8 years of age of the dog. I've heard there are great medications out there and I'm sure that through proper nutrition, exercise and regular checkups, your doberman can live the life he or she deserves to live. There are symptoms of which you must be aware. Low energy, trouble sleeping, general anxiety, the inability to lie down for long periods of time, and the inability to exercise for usual periods of time are signs that your dog is in serious trouble, especially if they are nearing the age of around 8 years.

Due to better formulated dog foods, and vet care, I would say 15. My female is 13 now. A little deaf, sometimes incontinent, eye cataracts. She still acts young sometimes. She's going to be hard to let go.

What were miniature pin bred for?

The Miniature Pinscher is a German breed. The Miniature Pinscher was developed from the Dachshund, Italian Greyhound, and the short haired German Pinscher. The breed looks like a mini Doberman, most likely because both the Miniature Pinscher and the the Doberman both were developed from the German Pinscher. The breed was used as a barnyard ratter controlling the rodent population in the stables. The Miniature Pinscher is often called the "King Of The Toys."Some of the Miniature Pinscher's talents are competitive obedience, watchdog, and agility.
