Michael's father was in a local R&B band with his brother and they both played the Guitar. They were an influence to Michael and his brothers but they didn't know it at the time. So, Michael was raised on R&B.

Michael's mother was raised with country and westen music and sang to Michael and his siblings all the time. Michael believed that he got his singing ability from his mother. 'She has always had a beautiful voice and I suppose I got my singing ability from my mother and, of course, from God' - Michael Jackson
