I've experienced 2 problems with air conditioning with 2 Lincolns I've owned. My 1996 Lincoln started blowing just hot air even though the air conditioning unit under the hood was cold and had ice forming over it. A few mechanics looked at it and couldn't fix it. An air conditioning shop finally fixed the problem. A $65 switching motor which took 8 hours to find. My 2000 Lincoln also developed a problem where I could not turn the blower on. I could feel the cold air from the vents, I just couldn't turn up the blower to get it into the car. By this time I was dealing with a mechanic who dealt with Lincolns from the limo industry. For $50 he replaced a sensor in the blower control and it has worked fine since. I wish I had known about this Lincoln mechanic when I had the first problem.
