It all depends on what song you are referring to. There are different instruments used for different genres of songs.
1st violin, 2nd violin, and 3rd violin are all the same instruments, but different parts in a song.
Many instruments belong to the percussion family. For example, drums of all sorts are members of the percussion family. Also, rattles are considered percussion instruments.
