His band, Nirvana, existed from 1987-94, and some of their records, specifically their 1991 breakthrough effort Nevermind and their darker, more complex In Uteroalbum (1993) have become very well known and have sold in amounts of multi-platnium. He was married to fellow rocker Courtney Love and both of them had a child together, daughter Frances Bean (b. 1992). Some of Cobain's musical influences included underground grunge bands like the Vaselines and the Meat Puppets. He is said to have committed suicide in 1994. However, there is a great amount of evidence to suggest that he was murdered, particularly the fact that he had three times the lethal dose of heroin in his system, rendering him incapable of also shooting himself. He was 27 years old.
