I wouldn't say so at all, if you mean "manufactured" in the sense that a band/artist has very little talent (except for looks and a voice), acts according to a contract, makes none of their own decisions, etc.
It is true that Coldplay's music has become more electronic (take "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall"), and contrasts quite a bit with their largely-acoustic debut, Parachutes. However, the band's style has evolved over years, and all members have expressed satisfaction with the changes. They "like to experiment", as lead vocalist and frontman Chris Martin has said often.
Each of the band's members is a talented and professional musician, and all collaborate in the writing of songs. (On Coldplay's most recent album, Mylo Xyloto, producer Brian Eno has also been credited as a songwriter, as well as various other musicians whose work was sampled.)
