Is it ok to play with no pick when playing guitar?

No If you like, use one. But, some of the prettiest melodies come out of finger picking. An arpeggio done without a pick is totally different than one done with. Listen to some flaminco guitar playing, and tell us what you think!

No, not really. If your finger nails are very long, then you can play with them.

I've played the guitar for years and you don't really need a pick, although it does give the sound more volume and tone. In certain style of music you need to pluck the strings with your fingers. It's awesome!

The traditional method for playing the Ukulele is to strum or pick with the fingers of the hand and not a guitar pick. That said, there are no hard and fast rules, and a pick is not "wrong".

A pick will give a louder and sharper sound, but is not as flexible as playing with fingers (because you have more fingers than picks).

The other thing to consider is a pick can easily damage the finish of a uke (as they rarely have scratch guards on them)

Yes you can if it has metal strings fitted. But don't forget there are in-body transducers and piezo-electric bridges out there too and they don't rely on the strings being metal.
