Is metallica a sell out

Depends on your perspective. I've listened to Metallica since Ride the Lightning came out, so I've been around for a while. Has the music changed...yes. Has the music been better or worse..probably worse. Did they sell out...no. The change is more of a reflection of maturation as a band, as artists, as songwriters, and singing. Some people act like they want them to come out with Master of Puppets (by far their best album) over and over and over again. But musically, the band needs to grow, and as fans, we would get bored with the same formulas over and over.

The day Metallica sells a song to Cadillac for an add, they appear on American Idol, put out a pure greatest hits album (lame), or do something else that shows a lack of artist integrity, then they sold out. S&M, which some fans say is a sell out, is an interesting fusion of genres that sometimes is great and sometimes sucks. But overall, its just Metallica doing something interesting.
