Meinl is generally much better than wuhan. Meinl makes more high end cymbals rather than the low end cymbals wuhan makes. Wuhan has a fairly good china for cheap though. DO NOT buy Meinl's HCS series cymbals, they are bad low end cymbals and might sound good at first but they quickly get old and sound terrible.
His nirvana kit was a Tama Artstar II, 24" kickdrum, 15 and 18inch toms and a 14×8inch artwood snaredrum. He used an Aquarian hi energy snare batter head, remo pinstripes on the toms, and a remo powerstroke on the kickdrum. The cymbals he used where zildjian A series, usually 15inch rock hihats, 18 and 20inch crashes and a 24inch medium ride. But sometimes he also used a 22inch heavy ride. Zildjian- all zildjians made before about 1966 are likely to be better than most modern cymbals. this is due to what is known as the Ringo Effect. before they were made extra world famous by Ringo on the beatles American tour, zildjian were almost completely hand crafted. that is lathed and often hammered. the huge rise in demand resulting from the Ringo Effect led to zildjian automating parts of the process that contribute to the sound. if you really want cymbals that feel and sound like musical instruments you are best off buying vintage zildjians and early sabians (made by Robert zildjian) from the internet. Surprisingly it will probably cost you less than buying new mass produced clangers from the shops. this is a well researched opinion. and "A" cymbal in "thin" or "paperthin", Salsa, timbale, and "K" cymbal, New Beat Hihats, Sweet Ride Paiste- vintage 505, 602, any signature series, 2000 or 3000

For metal music, some of the best cymbals include brands like Zildjian, Meinl, and Sabian, particularly their heavier models. Look for ride cymbals that have a clear, cutting sound and crash cymbals that can deliver explosive attacks, such as the Zildjian A Custom or Sabian AAX series. China cymbals are also popular for their trashy sound, adding an aggressive texture to metal drumming. Ultimately, the choice will depend on personal preference and the specific sound you're aiming for within the genre.
Sabian XS is generally considered to be of higher quality compared to Zildjian Planet Z. Sabian XS cymbals are made of better materials and are more likely to have a better sound and durability. Ultimately, the best choice will depend on personal preference and the sound you are looking to achieve.
