Normal car radio is no different than aftermarket. Determine the output wires on the radio, take them into the amp and the output from the amp back to the wires going to the speakers. Normal car speakers are not going to take the output of the amp if you raise it much.
check out www.installdr.com it will specify wires for you just select your vehicle make and model. I just used it to install a radio wihtout the wiring harness.
You will need a wiring diagram for the car so to identify what wire does what ie power wire, speakers wires etc, then join those to the same wires on the new unit
do not cut the wires. buy plug .
Go to a good dealer, they'll sell you the appropriate adapter to plug the radio right in w/o any messing about with cable splices.

Usually, if you were to buy a dash adapter kit for after market stereos, there is a brief description of the connectors wires. If that didn't help you can try going on Allpar fourms at allpar.com
