The Beatles formed a company called Apple (not to be confused with the computer and phone company) and several of their later records came with Apple labels. However, they were still signed with EMI at the time and, in fact, the recordings were still EMI recordings.
Decca Records rejected the Beatles in 1962 after they recorded 15 songs for their Decca Records audition. A&R man Dick Rowe told Beatles manager Brian Epstein that "Groups with guitars are on the way out," and that "the Beatles have no future in show business."
The individual members did record, but the Beatles didn't record together after their breakup in 1969.
According to the Guiness Book of World Records, sales of Beatles records, tapes, CD's, etc., surpassed 1 billion in 1985. To date, sales are between 1.1 and 1.2 billion.
