Ultimately, it depends on what you want to do! When I was in junior high and all of my friends started picking up instruments, learning Green Day songs, and starting bands, a lot of us made descisions based on this. I went out and bought a guitar after pinching my pennies and allowence for quite some time, only to fail miserably. I hated playing guitar; but when I got my first bass, everything changed. I fell in love with playing music.
Ultimately, you need to try to get an opportunty to create some music, even if it doesn't sound "amazing" with both instruments. Which one feels better, do you feel a natural aptitude for the mechanics of one or the other, do you find the music you want to play is more centered around the rhythm or the groove? Eventually, you'll figure out which one you want to play.
