Many have said a curved soprano is more supportive and makes a much clearer sound. I would advise you to get a curved if you are learning.
A good class student saxophone costs about £800 new, but they go all the time for £400-£500 on eBay.
From highest to lowest pitch: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone. The Soprano and Tenor are keyed in Bb The Alto and Baritone instruments are keyed in Eb. The baritone saxophone requires more lung capacity and is probably too large for a younger student. The soprano saxophone is the most difficult of these four to play in tune. Therefore most students of the saxophone begin on Alto or Tenor try others after they have some proficiency.

Yamaha manufactures and sells soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass saxophones. Their prices range from several hundred dollars to thousands depending on the type and the user's need. Yamaha saxophones are expensive, the average of a new instrument for a beginner player will still be more than $1000.00. Buying a used Yamaha saxophone will reduce the cost to less than $500.00.
A good and nice person. She was also a straight A student! Breanna and Steph:)
The answer differs with different models. There are student models, intermediate models, and then there are professional models. It also differs with which saxophone you're speaking of: the metso-soprano, the soprano, the alto, the tenor, the bari, the bass, or the contra bass. The alto saxophone student model has 22 different keys you can press down, including the octave key. That's just on my instrument, as other people's alto saxophone student models may have extra or fewer keys on theirs. On a professional model for any of these saxophones, it might have one or more extra keys to make certain notes easier to hit, as they are professional players and don't want to mess up on what they're doing. Just to make it short, the answers vary a lot.
This is dependent on MANY variables. This includes the model of the saxophone, the condition, the production year, ect. It cannot be determined with so few details. If you are looking for a student saxophone $200 is usually a safe price of for a working student alto saxophone.
