He MAY (hard to prove) have stolen some instruments in the early Beatles days. A cheap guitar from the era was found stashed in the attic of his Aunt Mimi's home recently. There is also the legend of The Beatles playing a "battle of the bands" and he stole another band's acoustic guitar.

But back in the early, struggling days of the group, all of them were known to be somewhat light-fingered from time to time - and they were probably no different from other groups in the same boat.
