Metal classic rock (Classic Metal and Metal) mainly started with the band Black Sabbath. Ozzy Osbourne, born Michael (was it Michael??) Osbourne the lead singer, was kicked out of the band because of his drug abuse and was replaced with Ronnie James Dio (Born Ronnie James Padovana, and the best singer ever!!). Ozzy Osbourne lead a solo career and after Black Sabbath, RJD made his own band, Dio. So these three groups all had music that was the start of Metal.

Here, this is the last question I am going to answer tonight. It is fitting that you want a word that begins with the last letter of the alphabet. That word is "zither." The thing is, while zithers were popularized in the 60s and 70s, their creation predates this time. They certainly were used then, primarily by folk, folk rock, and folk psych bands. Donovan probably had one.
