No, I could not turn up any information about a presidential pardon. The former bass player for Buddy Holly (He gave the Big Bopper his seat on the plane) he was a true outlaw country musician and is best known for writing the theme to the Dukes of Hazzard and being the show's narrator. He had shared an apartment with Johnny Cash in 1966. He once dynamited a building outside a club which refused to pay him. In the early 1970s he received a $75,000 advance for signing with RCA and was given complete artistic control. He then proceeded to blow all his money on cocaine, and, when he was finally arrested, managed to get off because of massive screw up on the part of the Drug Enforcement Agency. As a testament to how tough Jennings was (died in 2002) he quit coke cold turkey. http://www.criminalswanted.org/2008/10/
Country singer Waylon Jennings hosted a new reality program on CBS "The Dukes Of 911" (1989). Each show is 60-minutes long, and it features clips from episodes of "The Dukes Of Hazzard" (1979) by overdubbing a voice by dialing 911. Waylon Jennings ended each episode by saying "I'm Waylon Jennings, Join us again next week for more duke boys on The Dukes of....911". The closing credits show a shot of police car from Rescue 911 segment from episode 106 "Baltimore Cops". The theme for "The Dukes of 911" was a mashup of "The Dukes of Hazzard" theme song by Waylon Jennings mixed with "Rescue 911" theme song by Sonny Curtis.
it is my understanding that the late Waylon Jennings wrote the theme to the dukes of hazard TV series entitled the good old boys. to my knowledge, it was the only theme song used in the series, which was performed by Waylon Jennings.
