"Peronias" are the seeds of a wild plant native of Puerto Rico. It is possible that in some other Caribbean Island, they grow also. These seeds are oval like, bright red with a black dot at one of its ends and around 1/8 of an inch in size.
They were and are, used in the manufacture of a native musical instrument named Maracas, by the "Taino" natives.
The inner parts of the seeds are considered a very powerful and dangerous alkaloid. So be careful should you handle them.
