What are some opinions of who was the most talented Beatle?

This will start an argument. All of The Beatles were great personalities, humorous and cared about the world, peace and universal harmony.

Many believe it was John Lennon because he was something of a rebel with a cause and outspoken. Others think it might be George Harrison because he was a quiet achiever and a deep individual. Some say Ringo Starr, who was also a quiet achiever, low profile and had a great off-center sense of humor.

Personally, I believe it was Paul McCartney. He was the most musically accomplished of the four, he had the best voice, he wrote the best songs and came up with his own unique and innovative arrangements. He also went on to achieve the greatest success after the Beatles.

Asking whom was most talented is like asking who was most Human or English or Male etc. It's too Broad. However, for the purpose of clarity, it comes down to Lennon & Mc Cartney.

Yes, George was fantastic; probably the "Best Person" of the four, but not GENIUS; Ringo...1st two Beatle albums without a "click track "..the guy was a human metronome..but alas not GENIUS.

OK What defines MUSICAL GENIUS ? "The ability to redefine one's Instrument or Invent ....ORIGINALITY; MASTERY OVER ONE's MEDIUM of CHOICE.

Mc Cartney REDEFINED his instrument, yes James Jamerson (Motown,Funk Bro.s) was the Co-Author of Electric Bass & without Jamerson, maybe Staxx would be more prevalent in our minds than Motown..but Jamerson was limited,a one trick Pony. Evidence? Bob Babbitt brought in by Smokey; Gordy for Tears of a Clown session.

I went to the Motown Museum just to see where JJ performed...to absorb his presence BUT...Can you imagine the Beatles bringing in another Bass Player for a session on a Beatles Track ??..WHO ? The Walking Bass Line on Saw Her Standing There, the Singular Propulsion of Nowhere Man, The Cole Porteresque Fixing a Hole, Rain.

The Chili Peppers; Breeders owe Mc Cartney Royalties for Come Together (Under the Bridge; Cannonball (backwards come together) I play trust me. The Guy REINVENTED HIS INSTRUMENT; played every single instrument on Back in the USSR...arguable the Best Singer, no doubt the best Piano Player....and THE WORST SONGWRITER...Hamburger Jingles Really..ala Barry Mannilow...just trite, awful, commercial...Yesterday ? Good God Sing Songy Nonsensical Crap.........

Great Rhythm Player, maybe almost as good as Chuck Berry or Keith Richard. STOP THERE, Mc Cartney DWARFED him in originality, technical proficiency on his instrument -- on Lennon's too.

Mc Cartney played Blackbird ...But Lennon Dwarfed Mc Cartney in ORIGINALITY. Lennon's Lyrics are far Superior in Depth to Mc Cartneys; I even think Dylan's...indeed Short of The Beat Poets Lennons Lyrics instigated the 60's more than any other Musican's/Poet..Lennons VISION was the BEATLES, to a large Part the VOICE of a Generation...Tomorrow Never Knows..the WHOLE Song is in C..the whole thing! Lennon is the first to Record Feedback on a record, incorporate it in a song, the first to sing backwards (well record lyrics backwards). Lennon was the single most influential person in Rock History...sorry Elvis Fan's..Chuck Berry would be second.

So would Lennon have been as successful without Paul...NO

Would Paul have been as Musically Relevant without John.........LOL! ...NO.

Where The Beatles the most colossal entertainment/musical phenomenon that ever was....YES.

Lennon w/out Paul was a flurry of ideas without Shape.

Paul w/out John was...well, Wings (no artistic contribution whatsoever).

Lennon also penned : Tomorrow Never Knows,Nowhere Man,She Said She Said,Rain,Dear Prudence, Cry Baby Cry etc...Lyrically much more complex subject matter than Paul's Songs, but in fact each collaborated with the other THUS as I originally stated BOTH were equally talented musically, Lennon more so Lyrically,Mc Cartney more so Compositionally & more proficient on his instruments..in fact Paul played guitar on Blackbird.as a musician I can tell you this is a very difficult song to play HOWEVER 1) The Beatles WERE JOHN's BAND..he was the largest personality & his vision drove the band..not Paul's....As I stated who was more talented ? It's DUMB ! They we're both necessary to ascend the Beatles to the lofty position they hold even today & will indefinitely. Don't split up the band by perpetuating these sorts of questions.
