That all depends on personal choice as goth metal bands can sound incredibly different due to the nature of the genre. However, I highly suggest you look up/listen to the following bands for some very good goth metal songs (the ones with a * being my personal favorites out of the list):
Paradise Lost
Anathema*
Theatre of Tragedy (huge band in the development of 'beauty and beast' vocals in goth metal)
Type O Negative (mix of goth and doom)
Cradle of Filth (mix of goth and black)
Entwine*
The 69 Eyes (their later/newer stuff. old stuff is glam/hair metal)
Lacuna Coil
Tiamat*
To/Die/For
Deathstars* (a fusion of gothic metal with Euro-Industrial metal)
Some of those bands will sound very different to each other like they shouldn't be in the same genre, but the reason they will sound like that is because gothic metal has quite a wide range of vocal styles and therefore melody/music styles as well. What makes a band gothic metal is more to do with the lyrics than how they sound.
My favourite goth metal song is Love never dies (by Angelika & Demons)
The songs they listen to are mock recordings of famous goth bands (Bauhaus, seen as 'Blauhaus' in a poster located in the goth girls room), and an industrial band called 'Skinny Puppy'. Because of the misconception of death metal=Goth, a lot of people assume the goth kids from the show listen to metal, but not once in the entire series do they mention metal, let alone listen to it.
No. Not even a little bit. It's mostly Nu-Metal, with a couple Trip Hop tracks.
Sometimes.
GoTh metal and horror punk

Hardcore Metal isn't a genre. Hardcore Punk is derived from Punk Rock, and has been influential in the developmental progression of Metal. Goth Rock and Goth Metal are not the same. Gothic Rock is derived from the Post-Punk movement, Goth Metal.. really, it's more a theme than a genre. Neither one is the same as Hardcore.
