The correct scale for concert pitch C on a tenor horn is a C major.
The French horn is built so that it sounds in the key of F. If a hornist's music says to play a middle C, it will be the same pitch as an F below middle C on the piano. If a piece of music is writen in Concert F, a C-instrument, such as a trombone, will have one flat (B flat) in his or her key signature while a hornist will have no sharps or flats.
Trumpet, Trombone, tuba and french horn are the four major brass instruments
An Fb scale on the horn is the same as the E scale!! Crazy, huh? Hope this helps!! =)
You would change your embrochure to hit the notes.

How do you make a trombone sound like a french horn? Put your hand in the bell and play all of the notes wrong. This is coming from a horn player, btw

There is no thumb valve on a single horn. However, the valve on a double horn is used to make the notes easier to play. You can play higher and lower notes, and have more diverse fingerings.
The French Horn really doesn't have a limit. The limit is just as high as you can play it.
Concert G major transposes to the F horn's written D major, which contains two sharps.
It depends on how hard your 10 is rated. A horn is pretty hard because a lot of fingerings can be used to play a lot of notes that can be really close together. It requires a lot of training and lip muscle. It would probably be rated an 8 or 9.
