affordable and versatile , if you're a beginner this is a must for today's beginner Guitarists. They will give you the best idea of what sound you want and at the same time let you experience a ton of effects and you won't get bored of the guitar the first say year. You also save a lot of space in your room instead of having this and that pedal plugged in with your amp. You can plug in and record to the computer as well on newer ones and download rockstar guitar sounds.
cons are the sounds aren't 100% authentic compared to a real say Mesa Boogie , Marshall or Fender Tweed amplifier , turned up as loud as it can go won't sound as great as a tube or solid state amplifier. Older modeling amps you can barely adjust the EQ settings of the effect but now you can so a it's a pro for the newer say spider amps a con for say the spider III or lower.
but hey worry about this after a few years if you don't like modeling amps being the best , find something that excites you!
